St Benet’s participates in the Alpha course run by our neighbouring parish St Luke’s, Osney Crescent. The course is an opportunity to explore the questions of life and to think more about the claims of the Christian faith.
All those preparing to receive the sacraments of baptism or confirmation at St Benet’s will be attend the course in the autumn of each year. It is also open to anyone who wants to renew their knowledge of the basics of the gospel, or who knows someone who wants to explore the crucial questions of what life is all about.
We usually meet each Wednesday evening for eight weeks in October and November. There is always a meal together and time to chat and get to know each other. There then follows a period of teaching and discussion. Each week looks at a different element of the Christian faith’s claims, or a key question to do with what it means to be human. Who was Jesus? What is the Holy Spirit is like? Why we were created? Why did Jesus die on a cross? No question is too stupid, or too radical, or too complicated.
