Advent Children’s Mass

November 21, 2014 by Guy Willis

ChildrenSt Benet’s celebrated its first Sunday children’s Mass on Advent Sunday, 30th November.

Our usual pattern at St Benet’s is to offer a Sunday School for young children each week.  Our younger members gather at the beginning of the service for their own worship, teaching, and activities, and return in time for communion.

Our children’s Mass is slightly different.  The Children remain in church throughout the whole service. The Mass is slightly simpler, shorter, and involves more children’s songs than usual.  There is also a children’s talk instead of a sermon.

We hope this different way of celebrating the Eucharist enables our younger members to participate in the worship of God, and helps our whole parish family, young and old alike, to come together in the praise of God.
