Parish News: Nineteenth Sunday and Week of the Year

August 5, 2022 by Guy Willis

Jesus says we should always be ready ‘like men waiting for their master to return from the wedding feast.’ He is talking about spiritual readiness, rather than sleeping in our clothes by the front door! We don’t know when He will come again to judge the living and the dead, so our top priority each day should be to make sure we are ready for that moment.

You can read the scripture readings for this Sunday here.

Please pray for:
The sick and those in need
Conor, Chinye, Adelida, Jason, Rod, Edny & John.

The Faithful departed
All who have worshipped in and served at Saint Benet’s and those whose year’s mind falls this week.

to be Baptised

Looking ahead: On Sunday 23rd of October, Jonathan our Bishop will be coming to St Benet’s to offer the sacrament of Confirmation (and, if required, Baptism).
In this sacrament, the baptised receive a special and fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit to help them live the Christian faith to which they commit themselves. They are also admitted to Holy Communion.
There is a course of preparation required, which will begin in September. To find out more, speak to Father Guy.
