Parish News: The 20th Sunday and Week of the Year

August 18, 2023 by Guy Willis

Jesus begins his minstry amongst the Jewish people: the lost sheep of the House of Israel. By healing the daughter of a Canaanite woman, the member of a pagan tribe, Jesus shows that it is faith in him and not ethnicity that matters when it comes to recognising who the Son of God is.

You can donate using card online to support St Benet’s: every penny counts! You can also donate by cash or card in person, by texting BENET followed by your donation amount to 70450 to give that amount. Or why not set up a regular standing order with your bank?

Weekday masses resume on Tuesday 29th August. Mass and Sunday School every week at 11am as usual.

Please pray for:
The sick and those in need
Brenda, Conor, Chinye, Victor, Mercy, Olga, John, Isaac, Cordelia and Lotlia.

The Faithful departed
The recently departed. All who have worshipped in and served at Saint Benet’s and those whose year’s mind falls about this time.

The cover art this week is Folio 164r Jesus exorcising the Canaanite Woman’s daughter from the Très Riches Heures du Duc de Berry held at the Musée Condé, Château de Chantilly.
