This Sunday marks the half way point to Easter. On a long journey we need to stop and take refreshment and the same is true of our path through Lent. So on this Sunday the liturgical mood is lightened from deep purple to rose pink; a glimpse of the glory of the resurrection on Easter Sunday. It is also Mothering Sunday when we give thanks to God for our mothers and for Mary, Mother of God and mother of all Christians. You can find the readings for this coming Sunday here. Holy Week is the most important week of the year; do try to come to as much as you are able, particularly between Maundy Thursday and Easter Sunday. Much of our worship over this sacred time will be enriched with beautiful choral music. Now is the time to put these dates in your diary! Holy Tuesday – 26th March Holy Wednesday – 27th March Maundy Thursday – 28th March Good Friday – 29th March (day of fasting & abstinence) Holy Saturday – 30th March Easter Sunday – 31st March (British Summer Time begins – clocks go forward) The cover art is Die Wegführung der Juden in die babylonische Gefangenschaft by Eduard Julius Friedrich Bendemann (1811- 1889) held in the Düsseldorf Kunstpalast. |
