Parish News: Third Sunday and Week of Easter

April 12, 2024 by Guy Willis

When the risen Jesus breaks bread with the disciples, they recognise him. We experience that same moment of encounter in the mass, where Jesus is present with his people through the breaking of bread. He is with us too in the scriptures – as he was with the disciples on the road to Emmaus. In response to God making himself available in this way, we should make meeting him in Word and Sacrament our first priority.

You can donate using card online to support St Benet’s: every penny counts! You can also donate by cash or card in person, by texting BENET followed by your donation amount to 70450 to give that amount. Or why not set up a regular standing order with your bank?

You can find the readings for this coming Sunday here.

Please pray for:
The sick and those in need
Cordelia, Lolita, Reece and Vanessa.
The Faithful departed
All who have worshipped in and served at Saint Benet’s and those whose year’s mind falls this week, amongst them Colin Tolworthy (19th).

From next Sunday Georges Iskandar will be joining us on placement. He is training for ordination. Please make him and his family welcome!

On Sunday 14th July, Jonathan our Bishop will be here to celebrate the Sunday of St Benedict as part of our patronal festival. He will also baptise and confirm if there are candidates, both adults and children. Speak to Father Guy if you would like to explore this for you or your children. Preparation sessions will begin at the end of April.

The cover art is Emmaus by Maximino Cerezo Barredo, 2002. Painted mural in the Dining room of the Centro de Formación de Animadores, Gatun Lake, Panama.
