Parish News: Eleventh Sunday and Week of the Year

June 14, 2024 by Guy Willis

In comparing the Kingdom of God to a mustard seed – the smallest of all seeds – Jesus explains the importance of our faith. Whilst we may seem to be just a single person of little importance as followers of him we are in fact part of something with cosmic consequences: the bringing in of God’s Kingdom.

You can donate using card online to support St Benet’s: every penny counts! You can also donate by cash or card in person, by texting BENET followed by your donation amount to 70450 to give that amount. Or why not set up a regular standing order with your bank?

You can find the readings for this coming Sunday here.

Please pray for:
The sick and those in need

Brenda, Cordelia, Lolita, Reece and Vanessa.
The Faithful departed
All who have worshipped in and served at Saint Benet’s, the recently departed and those whose year’s mind falls this week, amongst them Laura Poolton (14th).
Candidates for ordination
Nicolas Boisson, Simon Billington, Graham Haines, William Allen (Deacon) Duncan Hegan, Roger Turner, Joshua Pollard, Timothy Davies, Ben Scott (Priest).

Patronal Festival: can you help?
At the party on Sunday 14th July we need:
– Food and drink to share
– Volunteers to offer face painting for children
– Volunteers to supervise the bouncy castle

Donations to defray festival expenses would be very welcome. Could you give £10 towards the £95 cost of the bouncy castle? Could you give £100 towards the £1000 cost of the music over the festival?

The cover art this week is Christ of the Cornfield by Kuzma Petrov-Vodkin (1878–1939). Location unknown.
