Parish News: Twenty Fifth Sunday and Week of the Year

September 20, 2024 by Guy Willis

Christ challenges his disciples conversation about ‘which of them is the greatest’ by shifiting their attention to those who need their care. He warns them to welcome little children in his name, for by doing so they will be welcoming him. By this he shows that it is amongst those who have the least power that God first chooses to dwell: the last shall be first.

You can donate using card online to support St Benet’s: every penny counts! You can also donate by cash or card in person, by texting BENET followed by your donation amount to 70450 to give that amount. Or why not set up a regular standing order with your bank?

You can find the readings for this coming Sunday here.

Please pray for:
The sick and those in need

Brenda, Cordelia, Lolita, Reece, Vanessa, John and Chinye.
The Faithful departed
All who have worshipped in and served at Saint Benet’s, the recently departed, amongst them Paolo, Lorraine and Betty, and those whose year’s mind falls this week.

We are invited this Tuesday, 24th September at 7.30pm to a Solemn Mass for the Feast of Our Lady of Walsingham at St Silas NW5 3QP. The shrine at Walsingham (the principal shrine of Mary in England, to we which we have an annual parish pilgrimage) was destroyed by Henry VIII in 1538 and restored by Father Alfred Hope Patten, Vicar of Walsingham in 1922. There is an image of Our Lady of Walsingham in the chapel to the right hand side of the High Altar.

Looking ahead:
