Churching of Women

The Churching of Women is a beautiful liturgy in which a woman who has recently given birth comes to church to make thanksgiving to God. It is a lovely opportunity for a family to thank God for the birth of a child, for their life together as a family, and for preservation against all the dangers of child birth.

The Prayer Book directs that it is good for a newly churched mother to receive communion, so it is particularly fitting to celebrate this liturgy within the context of the Mass.

Please be in touch with Fr Peter if you wish to be churched, or give thanks for the birth of a child with your family in church.
