THE ST BENET’S LENT APPEAL 2016
We will be thinking about “GIVING” this Lent. St Benet’s PCC has committed itself to raising £2000 through a Lent Appeal. We hope to raise a significant sum through a number of different fund raising activities to help make a difference in our world and in our church.
The total we raise will be divided into three:
- A third will be given to the Diocese of London’s Lent Appeal supporting charities working with persecuted Christians in Syria and Iraq.
- A third will be contributed to our pastoral assistant budget. It costs around £1000 per year to pay the costs of our pastoral assistant. Contributing to our pastoral assistant’s ministry amongst us is a concrete way of showing how much we appreciate his presence in our parish.
- A third will be used to help pay the cost of our new microphone system. Our new system costs £18,000 to install. We have received a donation of £2,000 from Kentish Town Primary School, for which we are very grateful. An extra £1000 from our Lent appeal will help bring the amount we have to find from saved funds down to £15,000.
Special fundraising events taking place this Lent as part of our Lent Appeal:

Lent Collection boxes
Every person who wants one is welcome to take home a free tube of Smarties. As a thank offering to God for all that he has given us, we are asked to return it on Easter Day full of pound coins. Empty out your pockets of change every once in a while through Lent, and pop the contents in your Smarties tube, or have a hunt around the back of the sofa for spare coins!
