Sunday 18th January: 11am Sung Mass and Children’s Sunday School
In our gospel this Sunday, we hear about the call of Andrew and Peter as Jesus’ first disciples. We see in this story a model for what a follower of Jesus should be like. A follower of Jesus is someone so full of excitement about having met Jesus that they cannot help but tell others and bring them to Christ.
We live in a Britain where the easy certainties of being part of institutional Christianity have all vanished. If we are to be authentic followers of Christ, and if our church communities are to grow, we have to rediscover what it means to bring others to Christ. We all need to be evangelists. The question of how we grow our parish community and help God make more disciples of his Son is one we will have to give much higher priority to than we have over the past fifty or sixty years. It needs to become one of the most important lenses through which we see our whole life together, and through which we prioritise our actions and energies.
Join us as we think about what it means to be a follower of Jesus and celebrate our Parish Mass together this Sunday.
