Parish News: Pentecost & Tenth Week of the Year

June 3, 2022 by Guy Willis

50 days after Easter, the Holy Spirit descends on the apostles and gives them the gift of speaking in languages they do not know. This shows that the message that they preach is for all people and nations. We can communicate God through what we say, but also through what we do – because the language of love is universal and needs no translation.

You can read the scripture readings for this Sunday here.

Please pray for:
The sick and those in need
Conor, Chinye, Adelida, Jason, Rod, Edny & John.

The Faithful departed
All who have worshipped in and served at Saint Benet’s and those whose year’s mind falls this week.

The Homezone festival on Lupton Street will take place on Saturday 11th June. Details on the poster at the back of church.

The cover art this week is Pentecost by Titian, c.1545, an altarpiece in the church of Santa Maria della Salute, Venice

Pentecost is Sunday 5th June and at 5pm we are invited to join our neighbours at Our Lady, Help of Christians on Lady Margaret Road for sung Evening Prayer. The preacher will be Fr Lawrence Lew, OP, Prior of St Dominic’s.

We are invited to a Solemn High Mass (Tridentine Rite) on Thursday 9th June at 7.30pm for the Octave of Pentecost at S Silas Kentish Town. There will be wonderful music and drinks and nibbles after the Mass. Everyone is welcome.
