In a series of statments, some shocking, some cryptic, others commonplace, Jesus in the Gospel this week is teaching us something both simple and yet profound. It is that God comes before all else and is above all things, and yet he is not some abstract concept: our relationship with God in Christ should permeate our whole lives. This means that God may be worshipped in the smallest kind action even to the laying down of life itself.
