Parish News: Trinity Sunday and the Ninth Week of the Year

June 2, 2023 by Guy Willis

On the feast of the Most Holy Trinity, we meditate on the nature of God: three distinct persons in one substance, ever one and ever three. But this is not just a theological detail of academic interest, rather it cuts to the core of the truth about reality. God exists, and has always existed, as a relationship – and we can neither comprehend oursevles nor our redemption unless we consider this fundamental fact.

You can find the scriptures for this week here.

Please pray for:

The sick and those in need
Brenda, Conor, Chinye, Victor, Mercy, Olga, John and Isaac.

The Faithful departed
The recently departed, amongst them Cordo. All who have worshipped in and served at Saint Benet’s and those whose year’s mind falls about this time.

Our Patronal Festival in July:
Tuesday 11th July, 7pm: High Mass and Procession of the Relic of our Patron St Benedict. Preacher: Fr Christopher Smith SSC, Vicar of St Alban, Holborn.

Sunday 16th July, 11am: Pontifical Mass of St Benedict, Parish Party, Table Top Sale, Bouncy Castle and Face Painting. Preacher: Jonathan our Bishop.

Patronal Festival: can you help?
At the party on Sunday 16th July we need food and drink to share and volunteers to:
– Organise the Table Top Sale
– Offer face painting for children
– Supervise the bouncy castle
Could you give £10 towards the £95 cost of the bouncy castle?
Could you give £100 towards the £1000 cost of the music over the festival?

The cover art this week is The Trinity with Christ Crucified. Austria, about 1410. Held in the National Gallery.
