Parish News: The Fifth Sunday and Week of Easter

May 16, 2025 by Guy Willis

What will happen in future? It’s a question that many people want to know the answer to. Scripture doesn’t tell us what will happen tomorrow. But from our reading from Revelation this week we know that this earth with all its challenges and problems will at some point pass away and there will be a new reality where “death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain.” That future for which we hope is real, and will be.

St Benet’s is self supporting: we receive no regular central church or government funding, so you can donate using card online to support St Benet’s: and every penny really does count! You can also donate by cash or card in person, by texting BENET followed by your donation amount to 70450 to give that amount. Or why not set up a regular standing order with your bank?

The readings for this Sunday are available here.

Please pray for:
The sick and those in need
Brenda, Reece, John, Chinye, Cheryl and Ann.
The Faithful departed
All who have worshipped in and served at Saint Benet’s, those who have died recently and those whose year’s mind falls about this time, amongst them Margaret Granowski- Wilkins (18th), Lancelot Ade Hunter (20th) and Margaret Pizzey (21st).

On Sunday 6th July Jonathan our Bishop will be here to celebrate mass for us on the Sunday of St Benedict. At that mass Baptism and Confirmation will be offered. Please put this date in your diary and pray for those preparing for this sacrament.

Georges Iskandar is to be ordained  to the sacred order of Deacon by our bishop Jonathan at 11am on Saturday 28th June at Saint Andrew Holborn, EC4A 3AF. Please pray for him now as he prepares and come to the ordination in June.

The Annual Parochial Church Meeting (APCM) will take place on Sunday 18th May after the Sung Mass.

The cover art is The Visions of St John on Patmos from the Triptych of Saint John the Baptist and Saint John the Evangelist by Hans Memling (circa 1433–1494) held in the Museum Sint-Janshospitaal, Bruges.
