Parish News: The Sixth Sunday and Week of Easter

May 23, 2025 by Guy Willis

The salvation of the world happened in one place and at one time, but life on earth goes on. So, as Jesus prepares to ascend back to heaven, he teaches his disciples about the Holy Spirit. God is Father, Son and Holy Spirit. His third person will, Jesus promises, “teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.” And we find that voice in the Holy Scriptures and in the sacraments and teaching of the Holy Church.

St Benet’s is self supporting: we receive no regular central church or government funding, so you can donate using card online to support St Benet’s: and every penny really does count! You can also donate by cash or card in person, by texting BENET followed by your donation amount to 70450 to give that amount. Or why not set up a regular standing order with your bank?

The readings for this Sunday are available here.

Please pray for:
The sick and those in need
Brenda, Reece, John, Chinye, Cheryl and Ann.
The Faithful departed
All who have worshipped in and served at Saint Benet’s, those who have died recently amongst them Ron Corp, Priest; Martin Poole, Priest and Stephen Fry and those whose year’s mind falls about this time, amongst them Jonathan Campell (26th) and Mary Morrow (27th).

On Sunday 6th July Jonathan our Bishop will be here to celebrate mass for us on the Sunday of St Benedict. At that mass Baptism and Confirmation will be offered. Please put this date in your diary and pray for those preparing for this sacrament.

Georges Iskandar is to be ordained  to the sacred order of Deacon by our bishop Jonathan at 11am on Saturday 28th June at Saint Andrew Holborn, EC4A 3AF. Please pray for him now as he prepares and come to the ordination in June.

The cover art is Christ Taking Leave of the Apostles by Duccio di Buoninsegna (1255–1319) held in the  Museo dell’Opera Metropolitana del Duomo, Siena.
