Parish News: The Third Sunday and Week of Easter

May 2, 2025 by Guy Willis

The resurrected Jesus appears to the disciples whilst they are working their nets; at his command they catch a great quantity of fish. This miracle prefigures the many people that they will bring to Christ in their apostolic work. Around a third of us living on the Earth today are Christians – about 2.4 billion. Many more rejoice areadly with St Peter and all the Saints in heaven!

St Benet’s is self supporting: we receive no regular central church or government funding, so you can donate using card online to support St Benet’s: and every penny really does count! You can also donate by cash or card in person, by texting BENET followed by your donation amount to 70450 to give that amount. Or why not set up a regular standing order with your bank?

The readings for this Sunday are available here.

Please pray for:
The sick and those in need
Brenda, Reece, John, Chinye, Cheryl and Ann.
The Faithful departed
All who have worshipped in and served at Saint Benet’s, those who have died recently, amongst them Vanessa Manship, and those whose year’s mind falls about this time, amongst them Betty Parker (6th).

On Sunday 6th July Jonathan our Bishop will be here to celebrate mass for us on the Sunday of St Benedict. At that mass Baptism and Confirmation will be offered. If this is something you would like to explore for you or your children, please speak to Father Guy or email him. A course of preparation will take place on Sunday mornings beginning this Sunday 4th May.

Georges Iskandar is to be ordained  to the sacred order of Deacon by our bishop Jonathan at 11am on Saturday 28th June at Saint Andrew Holborn, EC4A 3AF. Please pray for him now as he prepares and come to the ordination in June.

The Annual Parochial Church Meeting (APCM) will take place on Sunday 18th May after the Sung Mass.

The cover art is Der Wunderbare Fischzug by Konrad Witz, 1444. Held in the Musée d’Art et d’Histoire de Geneva.
