Parish News: 15th Sunday and Week of the Year

July 11, 2025 by Guy Willis

At a time when tensions are high in the land of our Saviour’s birth, the parable of the Good Samaritan is maybe especially poignant. In it, Jesus not only teaches us about the importance of recognising that all humans are all made in image and likeness of God. He also shows that this common heritage means that we need a saviour who is for all: his own self.

St Benet’s is self supporting: we receive no regular central church or government funding, so you can donate using card online to support St Benet’s: and every penny really does count! You can also donate by cash or card in person, by texting BENET followed by your donation amount to 70450 to give that amount. Or why not set up a regular standing order with your bank?

The readings for this coming Sunday are available here.

Please pray for:
The sick and those in need
Brenda, Reece, John, Chinye, Cheryl, Ann, Mana, Chika, Sonny and Alessandro
The Faithful departed
All who have worshipped and served here, those who have died recently, amongst them Gillian Butt, and those whose year’s mind falls about this time, amongst them Bill Scott, Priest, Ethel Pinder, Madge Heslop (17th) and Bill Bartlett (19th).

We are invited to Holy Redeemer, Clerkenwell, EC1R 4QE for their feast of title celebrations on Friday 18th July at 7 pm. The preacher will be Fr Stephen Gallagher, and Mass will be followed by a procession of the Blessed Sacrament through the parish and Benediction.

The cover art is Meester van de Barmhartige Samaritaan (fl. circa 1530– circa 1550). Unknown artist. Held in the Centraal Museum, Utrecht.
