Parish News: The 27th Sunday and Week of the Year

October 3, 2025 by Guy Willis

*** TONIGHT: Friday 3rd October, 6.45-10pm: Harvest Barn Dance, here at St Benet’s. Pro band & caller; Free nibbles; Bar; All star raffle. £6 adult, £3 child. BOOK HERE or pay on the door. ***

St Benet’s is self supporting: we receive no regular central church or government funding, so you can donate using card online to support St Benet’s: and every penny really does count! You can also donate by cash or card in person, by texting BENET followed by your donation amount to 70450 to give that amount. Or why not set up a regular standing order with your bank?

The readings for this coming Sunday are available here.

Please pray for:
The sick and those in need
Brenda, Reece, John, Chinye, Cheryl, Ann, Mana, Chika, Alessandro, Sonny, Jan, Danielle and Grace.
The Faithful departed
All who have worshipped and served here, those who have died recently and those whose year’s mind falls about this time, amongst them Ethel Brooker (5th), Mary Jones (11th).

This harvest, please don’t bring food donations for those in need to St Benet’s; we don’t have a way of distributing them. Instead, here are some local projects you might like to support directly:
SanKTus Welfare Project, on Lady Margaret Road NW5 (sanktus.org)
Camden Food Bank, on Pratt Mews  NW1 (camden.foodbank.org.uk)
Kentish Town Community Centre, based on Busby Place NW5 (ktcc.org.uk)

On Sunday 19 October at 5pm we are invited to St Luke’s, 450 Uxbridge Road W12 0NS for their patronal festival. The preacher will be the Rt Revd Dom Cuthbert Brogan OSB, Abbot of St Michael’s Abbey, Farnborough. Followed by drinks and supper.

Monday 3rd November at 7pm Sung Mass of All Souls with Commemoration of the Faithful Departed. With choir.

Sunday 9th November at 11am Remembrance Sunday.

Thursday 13th November at 7pm at St Silas NW5 3QP  Solemn Requiem in the Extraordinary Form (‘Tridentine Rite’).

The cover art is Burning of Jerusalem by Nebuchadnezzar’s Army, school of Juan de la Corte, c. 1630-1660. Held at the Fundación Banco Santander, Madrid.
