Parish News: The 28th Sunday and Week of the Year

October 10, 2025 by Guy Willis

Healing and faith are often connected in the public ministry of Jesus. In the Gospel set for this week it is only the ‘foreigner’ – the Samaritan – who gives thanks for his healing from Leprosy. In part this is to show that the most important thing is not which family we are born into on this earth, but whether or not we recognise the true Father of all: God himself.

St Benet’s is self supporting: we receive no regular central church or government funding, so you can donate using card online to support St Benet’s: and every penny really does count! You can also donate by cash or card in person, by texting BENET followed by your donation amount to 70450 to give that amount. Or why not set up a regular standing order with your bank?

The readings for this coming Sunday are available here.

Please pray for:
The sick and those in need
Brenda, Reece, John, Chinye, Cheryl, Ann, Mana, Chika, Alessandro, Sonny, Jan, Danielle and Grace.
The Faithful departed
All who have worshipped and served here, those who have died recently and those whose year’s mind falls about this time, amongst them Bill Freeman (12th), Henri Berhet, Priest (13th), Michael Harvey, Priest (14th), and Annie Billy.

On Sunday 19 October at 5pm we are invited to St Luke’s, 450 Uxbridge Road W12 0NS for their patronal festival. The preacher will be the Rt Revd Dom Cuthbert Brogan OSB, Abbot of St Michael’s Abbey, Farnborough. Followed by drinks and supper.

Monday 3rd November at 7pm Sung Mass of All Souls with Commemoration of the Faithful Departed. With choir.

Sunday 9th November at 11am Remembrance Sunday.

Thursday 13th November at 7pm at St Silas NW5 3QP  Solemn Requiem in the Extraordinary Form (‘Tridentine Rite’).
