Parish News: The 2nd Sunday and Week of Lent

February 27, 2026 by Guy Willis

In the account of the Transfiguration, Peter, James and John see a foretaste of the glory of the resurrection of Jesus which is to come. This reminds us that as we journey through our time of penitence in Lent we do so with the knowledge that Christ’s victory over death at Easter is assured. So too as we journey through our life on earth, we persevere in sure and certain hope of our resurrection to eternal life with Him.

St Benet’s is self supporting: we receive no regular central church or government funding, so you can donate using card online to support St Benet’s: and every penny really does count! You can also donate by cash or card in person, by texting BENET followed by your donation amount to 70450 to give that amount. Or why not set up a regular standing order with your bank?

The readings for this Sunday can be found here.

Please pray for:
The sick and those in need
Brenda, Reece, John, Cheryl, Ann, Chika, Alessandro, Sonny, Jan, Danielle, Grace and Grace.
The Faithful departed
All who have worshipped and served here, those who have died recently, amongst them Doreen Dewberry and those whose year’s mind falls about this time, amongst them Frank Marcelle (4th), Yvonne Mussell, Bryar Parry, Priest (6th) and Christopher Thomas Cantrell, Priest (7th).

Fridays in Lent (from 27th Feb) Mass 6pm, Stations of the Cross 6.30pm. In the Stations of the Cross we follow Jesus from his condemnation to his burial. It lasts about 30 minutes and is an excellent way to deepen your life of prayer during this holy season.

Jonathan our Bishop warmly invites you all to his Lay People’s Congress: Ready with a Reason at which Bishop Lindsay Urwin OGS will help us to reflect on how we can more effective in our sharing of the Good News of Jesus Christ. Saturday 21st March 2026 10.00am – 3.30pm at St Alban’s, Holborn EC1N 7RD.
