Parish News: Second Sunday and Week of Easter

April 10, 2026 by Guy Willis

In this Sunday’s Gospel, we hear about Saint Thomas, who does not believe until he sees Jesus risen. He is often called ‘doubting Thomas’, though he really is ‘believing Thomas’ – it is just that he wants to see for himself. Are we like him ready to believe, and looking for the signs that Jesus lives? Or are we yet more blessed “who have not seen and yet believe”?

St Benet’s is self supporting: we receive no regular central church or government funding, so you can donate using card online to support St Benet’s: and every penny really does count! You can also donate by cash or card in person, by texting BENET followed by your donation amount to 70450 to give that amount. Or why not set up a regular standing order with your bank?

The readings for this Sunday can be found here.

Please pray for:
The sick and those in need
Brenda, Reece, John, Cheryl, Ann, Chika, Alessandro, Sonny, Jan, Danielle and Grace.
The Faithful departed
All who have worshipped and served here, those who have died recently, amongst them Grace Onyefulu, and those whose year’s mind falls about this time, amongst them Mary Vialls (13th), Herbert Phillips (15th) and Margaret Bates (18th).

Father Georges Iskandar is to be ordained to the sacred Priesthood by our bishop Jonathan at 5pm on Sunday 28th June at Saint Andrew Holborn, EC4A 3AF. He will celebrate a Solemn Mass of Thanksgiving on Monday 29th June at 7pm here at St Benets. Please pray for him now as he prepares and put theses dates in your diary.

On Sunday 5th July Jonathan our bishop will be here to celebrate mass for us on the Sunday of St Benedict. At that mass Baptism and Confirmation will be offered. If this is something you would like to explore for you or your children, please speak to Father Guy or Father Georges.

The cover art is Christ Appears to the Apostles Behind Closed Doors by Duccio di Buoninsegna, 1308-11. Held in the Museo dell’Opera Metropolitana del Duomo, Siena.
