Parish News: 15th Sunday and Week of the Year

July 10, 2026 by Guy Willis

What does it mean to truly hear and to truly see? What does it mean to flourish? These ideas are explored by Jesus in the parable of the sower. And what he says has great relevance today, when there are so many obstacles that we have put in our own way; to our true seeing of God, of one another and of oursevles. What are those choking weeds for you?

St Benet’s is self supporting: we receive no regular central church or government funding, so you can donate using card online to support St Benet’s: and every penny really does count! You can also donate by cash or card in person, by texting BENET followed by your donation amount to 70450 to give that amount. Or why not set up a regular standing order with your bank?

The readings for this Sunday are available here.

Please pray for:
The sick and those in need
Brenda, Reece, John, Cheryl, Ann, Chika, Sonny, Danielle, Grace, Mary, Hugh and Mary.
The Faithful departed
All who have worshipped and served here, those who have died recently and those whose year’s mind falls about this time, amongst them Emmanuel Gbadebo, Snr. (12th), Cecil Greenwood Hare (14th), Ethel Pinder, Madge Heslop and Bill Scott, Priest (17th).

We are invited to the patronal festivals of our sister churches at:
7pm on Friday 10th July for First Vespers at St Silas, NW5 3QP
3pm on Saturday 11th July for Solemn Mass at St Silas, NW5 3QP (Preacher: the Venerable Stephen Edmonds SSC)
7pm on Friday 17th July for Solemn Mass and Procession of the Blessed Sacrament at Holy Redeemer, EC1R 4QE (Preacher: the Reverend Damien Mason SSC)

The cover art is Das Gleichnis vom bösen Feind part of the Mömpelgarder Altarpiece, c. 1540. Held in the Kunsthistorisches Museum, Vienna.
