Parish News: 27th Sunday and Week of the Year

October 2, 2026 by Guy Willis

The language of fruitfulness in this Sunday’s gospel can help us to think about our lives in a new way. Do we tend the vineyard given into our care? What do we do with its fruit? What kind of tenants of God’s vineyard are we?

You can read the scripture set for this Sunday here.

St Benet’s is self supporting: we receive no regular central church or government funding, so you can donate using card online to support St Benet’s: and every penny really does count! You can also donate by cash or card in person, by texting BENET followed by your donation amount to 70450 to give that amount. Or why not set up a regular standing order with your bank?

Please pray for:
The sick and those in need
Brenda, Reece, John, Ann, Chika, Sonny, Danielle, Grace, Carl, Rex, Mary, Chinye, Rob and Fr Luke Demetri.
The Faithful departed
All who have worshipped and served here, those who have died recently, amongst them Marcelo de Susa and Joseph Cheriah as well as those whose year’s mind falls about this time, amongst them William Pelling (4th) and Ethel Mary May Booker (5th).

Please don’t bring food donations for those in need to St Benet’s; we don’t have a way of distributing them. Instead, here are some local projects you might like to support directly:

SanKTus Welfare Project, on Lady Margaret Road NW5 (sanktus.org)

Camden Food Bank, on Pratt Mews NW1 (camden.foodbank.org.uk)

All Souls Day is on Monday 2nd November. There will be a Sung Mass with Choir at 7pm. If you would like a loved one remembered by name, please add their name to the list at the back of church.

All Souls Day Lamps. If you wish to have a seven-day lamp lit for departed relatives or friends for the week of All Souls’ Day (2nd Nov), please add your name to the list at the back of church or speak to Terry for more information. These lamps will cost £6 each.

We are invited on Thursday 12th November at 7pm to St Silas NW5 3QP for a Solemn Requiem in the Extraordinary Form (‘Tridentine Rite’).

The cover art is Vineyards at Auvers by Vincent van Gogh, 1890. Held in the Saint Louis Art Museum, Missouri.
