Parish News: Corpus Christi

June 5, 2026 by Guy Willis

In the feast of Corpus Christi we give thanks to God for the great gift of the Blessed Sacrament. It reminds us that when we come to church together for the mass, we are not only remembering Jesus but we are present with him, and he is present with us. By that daily and weekly encounter we are strenthened for our journey through this life on earth and prepared for the eternal banquet in heaven.

St Benet’s is self supporting: we receive no regular central church or government funding, so you can donate using card online to support St Benet’s: and every penny really does count! You can also donate by cash or card in person, by texting BENET followed by your donation amount to 70450 to give that amount. Or why not set up a regular standing order with your bank?

The readings for this Sunday can be found here.

Please pray for:
Those to be ordained
Deacon: Felix Trimbos for St Silas and Holy Trinity, Kentish Town.
Priest: Antonio Jospeh for St Michael, Croydon; John Laverick for All Hallows Tottenham;  Sam Williams for Our Most Holy Redeemer, Clerkenwell; Oliver Baldwin for All Hallows Gospel Oak; Nathan Barrett for St Mary Hayes, and Georges Iskandar for St Benet and All Saints, Kentish Town.
The sick and those in need
Brenda, Reece, John, Cheryl, Ann, Chika, Sonny, Danielle, Grace and Mary.
The Faithful departed
All who have worshipped and served here, those who have died recently, amongst them Alessandro Bertoja, Lorna Kiden, Jan Besser and Kenneth Bannerman and those whose year’s mind falls about this time, amongst them Laura Poolton (7th), John Davidson (8th), Ivor Scott-Oldfield, Priest (12th), Tassie Buchanan and Susan Gilard (13th).

Father Georges Iskandar is to be ordained  to the Priesthood at 5pm on Sunday 28th June at St Andrew Holborn, EC4A 3AF. It would be good if as many of us as possible were able to go and support him on that occasion.

Father Georges will celebrate a Solemn Mass of Thanksgiving on Monday 29th June at 7pm here at St Benets. The mass will be followed by drinks.

On Sunday 5th July at 11am Jonathan our bishop will be here on the Sunday of St Benedict; mass will be followed by a party and a bring and share lunch. Please be sure to come to support our candidates and plan what food you are going to bring to share.

On Friday 7th June there will be a Solemn High Mass of the Feast of the Most Sacred Heart according to the Tridentine Rite (Extraordinary Form )  at St Silas, Kentish Town NW5 3QP. The setting is Liszt, Missa Choralis.

The cover art is Manna reigning from heaven on the Israelites (Exodus 16) from the Maciejowski Bible, c. 1250. Held at The Morgan Library & Museum, New York.
