Parish News: Thirteenth Sunday and Week of the Year

June 24, 2022 by Guy Willis

In the Gospel reading for today we hear some hard words from the Lord. Jesus challenges those who would follow him, and he is trying to make us think. It’s all a question of priorities: do we put God first, or something or someone else?

You can read the scripture readings for this Sunday here.

Please pray for:
The sick and those in need
Conor, Chinye, Adelida, Jason, Rod, Edny & John.

The Faithful departed
All who have worshipped in and served at Saint Benet’s and those whose year’s mind falls this week.

Those to be ordained
By Jonathan our Bishop: James Chegwidden (priest, 25th June); Luke Demetri (priest, 9th July); Stephen Miller, Andrew Bailey and John Hillman (deacon, 2nd July).
Also for Thomas Cotterill (deacon, 4th July by the Bishop of Chichester) and Tristan Meares (deacon, 2nd July by the Bishop of Blackburn).

The feast of St Peter and Paul is a day when all should go to mass if at all possible; there are three opportunities here: a vigil mass on Tuesday evening at 6.30pm, and at 12 noon and 6.30pm on Wednesday.

If you worship at St Benets join the electoral roll. Paper forms available from Fr Guy or by filling in the online form by clicking here.

The cover art this week is Saints Peter and Paul by El Greco c.1590 held in The State Hermitage Museum, St Petersburg.
