The commemoration of the death of the Blessed Virgin Mary (the Dormition, or falling asleep, as it is known in the East) is known as the Assumption because her body did not decay but she was raised up, body and soul, into heaven. We rejoice that she was chosen by God to bear his Son for us, that she accepted this great charge, and that she now rejoices with him in heaven, and we pray that we may one day join them there. Please pray for: The Faithful departed Looking ahead: On Sunday 23rd of October, Jonathan our Bishop will be coming to St Benet’s to offer the sacrament of Confirmation (and, if required, Baptism).
