Parish News: The 31st Sunday and Week of the Year

October 28, 2022 by Guy Willis

Zacchaeus is someone who wants to see Jesus, but he cannot see over the crowd. He climbs a tree, and Jesus sees him. His story should prompt us to consider deeply: what it is in my life that is stopping me from seeing Jesus? And what can I do about it?

You can read the scriptures for this week here.

Remember, the clocks go back 1 hour at 2am this Sunday 30th October.

Please pray for:

The sick and those in need
Conor, Chinye, Adelida, Jason, Rod, Edny, John, Yen, John, Sarah & Reece.

The Faithful departed
All who have worshipped in and served at Saint Benet’s and those whose year’s mind falls this week.

This Wednesday is All Souls day on which we pray for all the Faithful Departed. Said Mass at 12 noon and Sung Mass at 6.30pm (instead of the usual Mass and Benediction) at which names of the departed will be read. To have your loved one remembered by name at the 6.30pm mass, please add the name to the list at the back of church or email: ernest.ng@saintbenets.org.uk

All are invited to the Fulham Lay Congress which will take place on Saturday 19th November 2022 at St Andrew’s, Holborn. 10.30 am to 3pm. The theme is ‘Anointed: living as prophets, priests and monarchs’, and will consist of a key note address by be His Eminence Archbishop Angaelos, Coptic Orthodox Archbishop of London. This will be followed by opportunities for discussion and fellowship, and encouragement in practical ways of living out our baptismal vocation in our parishes.

Wine tasting evening with Margaret Harvey, Master of Wine: ‘Pinot Noir around the Commonwealth.’
We will taste four red wines, all made from the same grape and all from Commonwealth countries. Light nibbles included. Friday 25th November, 7pm. Tickets: £20 via bit.ly/SBKTWINE22 or cash or card to Ernest after Mass.

The cover art is Jesus Eating at the House of Zacchaeus from a 15th century book of Gospels held in the Musee Marmottan Monet, Paris.
