Parish News: The Twenty-Ninth Sunday and Week of the Year

October 14, 2022 by Guy Willis

All human judges are unjust, more or less: even those that try to be as just as they can are only human. They have imperfect knowledge and imperfect judgement. God, who will judge us all, is justice itself, knowing as he does the very secrets of all hearts. But, Jesus asks, when he comes to judge, will he find any faith on earth? Let us pray that we can answer, ‘yes’!

You can read the scriptures for this week here.

Please pray for:
The sick and those in need
Conor, Chinye, Adelida, Jason, Rod, Edny, John, Yen, John & Sarah.

The Faithful departed
All who have worshipped in and served at Saint Benet’s and those whose year’s mind falls this week.

Jonathan our Bishop is visiting to celebrate the mass and the sacraments of baptism and confirmation on Sunday 23rd October, 11am. Please pray for our candidates for baptism and confirmation and make every effort to be at mass to support them!

Wine tasting evening with Margaret Harvey, Master of Wine: ‘Pinot Noir around the Commonwealth.’
We will taste four red wines, all made from the same grape and all from Commonwealth countries. Light nibbles included. Friday 25th November, 7pm. Tickets: £20 via bit.ly/SBKTWINE22 or cash or card to Ernest after Mass.

The cover art is an icon of Christ the Just Judge painted by Marchela Dimitrova, a contemporary Bulgarian Orthodox artist.
