After 2000 years of Christian history, it is easy to forget how scandalous it is that we take an instrument of torture as our badge of honour. What was meant to be simply painful and humiliating turned out also to be the means by which God would save the world from itself. That is why we glory in the Cross of Our Lord Jesus Christ, because through it we are saved and made free. You can donate using card online to support St Benet’s: every penny counts! You can also donate by cash or card in person, by texting BENET followed by your donation amount to 70450 to give that amount. Or why not set up a regular standing order with your bank? The annual Barn Dance returns on Friday 6th October 6.45pm to 10pm: We need prizes for the barn dance raffle which are suitable both for adults and for children. Donations can be dropped off after any mass. If anyone would like to donate stock for the bar, nibbles or to help fund the cost the band, please speak to Father Guy. The cover art this week is The discovery of the Holy Cross by Empress Helena by Sebastiano Ricci (1659 – 1734) held in the Dom Quartier Museum, Salzburg. |
