Parish News: The 22nd Sunday and Week of the Year

September 1, 2023 by Guy Willis

‘Heaven preserve you Lord!’  – Peter is horrified that Jesus, the Christ, must suffer. But it is only through suffering that the world can be redeemed. Suffering and pain of many kinds is a fact of life, but through the power of the Cross, our sufferings can be transformed into the means of grace and the hope of glory.

You can donate using card online to support St Benet’s: every penny counts! You can also donate by cash or card in person, by texting BENET followed by your donation amount to 70450 to give that amount. Or why not set up a regular standing order with your bank?

Please pray for:
The sick and those in need
Brenda, Conor, Chinye, Victor, Mercy, Olga, John, Isaac, Cordelia and Lotlia.

The Faithful departed
The recently departed, amongst them Edith Biziringi. All who have worshipped in and served at Saint Benet’s and those whose year’s mind falls about this time.

A warm welcome to Nathan Brooks, our new Pastoral Assistant for the year.

We are invited to join the people of St Mary Brookfield to celebrate their Patronal Festival this Friday 8th September at 7pm. Solemn mass followed by supper.

On Saturday 16th September at 3.00pm at St Silas Kentish Town Father Graeme Rowlands will offer a Mass of Thanksgiving for God’s guidance and protection on the occasion of his retirement. He has been Vicar of St Silas and Holy Trinity since 1988. All are welcome.

The cover art this week is from the chapel of the Third Station (Jesus Falls for the First Time) on the via dolorosa, Jerusalem. Late 19th Century; artist unknown.
