Parish News: Sixth Sunday and Week of the Year

February 9, 2024 by Guy Willis

Today is the final Sunday before Lent begins: the season of of fasting, prayer and almsgiving to prepare us for Easter. Ash Wednesday is on the 14th of February and is the beginning of Lent. It is a day when all Christians should go to church. Said Mass at 8.30am at St Benets, 12 noon at St Silas. Sung Mass at 7pm at St Benets. All with imposition of ashes.

You can donate using card online to support St Benet’s: every penny counts! You can also donate by cash or card in person, by texting BENET followed by your donation amount to 70450 to give that amount. Or why not set up a regular standing order with your bank?

You can find the readings for this coming Sunday here.

Please pray for:
The sick and those in need
We are renewing the list of those for whom we pray – please let Fr Guy know of those you would like added to the parish prayer list.
The Faithful departed
The recently departed, all who have worshipped in and served at Saint Benet’s and those whose year’s mind falls about this time amongst them Geoffrey Albert Smith (11th) and Ian Young, Priest (13th).
