Parish News: 17th Sunday and Week of the Year

July 25, 2025 by Guy Willis

There is one prayer that every Christian should know; it is the prayer which says all that we need to say, and that Jesus himself teaches us and in which we rightly call God ‘Our Father’. It is a prayer for all seasons and for all occaisions because it encompasses that we fear, all that we hope for, and all that we must do.

St Benet’s is self supporting: we receive no regular central church or government funding, so you can donate using card online to support St Benet’s: and every penny really does count! You can also donate by cash or card in person, by texting BENET followed by your donation amount to 70450 to give that amount. Or why not set up a regular standing order with your bank?

The readings for this coming Sunday are available here.

Please pray for:
The sick and those in need
Brenda, Reece, John, Chinye, Cheryl, Ann, Mana, Chika, Sonny and Alessandro
The Faithful departed
All who have worshipped and served here, those who have died recently and those whose year’s mind falls about this time, amongst them amongst them Eileen Maxwell and Joy Arnold (31st).

The cover art is the page showing the Our Father (Pater Noster) in the Sherborne Missal c.1399-1407. Held in the British Library, Add MS 74236.
