Parish News: 18th Sunday and Week of the Year

August 1, 2025 by Guy Willis

The truth about possessions is that if we value ourselves by them, they begin to own us. Instead Jesus urges us to hoard that which is truly eternal and to place everything in its proper palce in our hearts: the goods of the spirit above the goods of this earth.

St Benet’s is self supporting: we receive no regular central church or government funding, so you can donate using card online to support St Benet’s: and every penny really does count! You can also donate by cash or card in person, by texting BENET followed by your donation amount to 70450 to give that amount. Or why not set up a regular standing order with your bank?

The readings for this coming Sunday are available here.

Please pray for:
The sick and those in need
Brenda, Reece, John, Chinye, Cheryl, Ann, Mana, Chika, Sonny and Alessandro
The Faithful departed
All who have worshipped and served here, those who have died recently and those whose year’s mind falls about this time, amongst them amongst them Barbara Sharples, Michael Dymock, Priest (4th) and Melvina Akers (9th).

During August there will be no weekday masses whilst Father Guy takes some holiday and helps lead a pilgrimage to Lourdes. Sundays will be as usual and weekday masses resume on Monday 1st September. If you would like to go to a weekday mass, you can try our neighbouring parishes of St Silas NW5 2QP, St Mary NW5 1SL and All Hallows NW3 2JP. Check their website news pages for times.
