Parish News: Fifth Sunday and Week of Easter

May 1, 2026 by Guy Willis

As Christ continues to teach the disciples, he explains that to see him is to see God. This truth is hard for them to accept because it seems to challenge all that they know about God. Yet it is this radical fact – that in Jesus Christ, God has made himself known to his creation – which is at the heart of the faith that the disciples will preach and that we profess with them.

St Benet’s is self supporting: we receive no regular central church or government funding, so you can donate using card online to support St Benet’s: and every penny really does count! You can also donate by cash or card in person, by texting BENET followed by your donation amount to 70450 to give that amount. Or why not set up a regular standing order with your bank?

The readings for this Sunday can be found here.

Please pray for:
Those to be ordained
Deacon: Felix Trimbos for St Silas and Holy Trinity, Kentish Town.
Priest: Antonio Jospeh for St Michael, Croydon; John Laverick for All Hallows Tottenham;  Sam Williams for Our Most Holy Redeemer, Clerkenwell; Oliver Baldwin for All Hallows Gospel Oak; Nathan Barrett for St Mary Hayes, and Georges Iskandar for St Benet and All Saints, Kentish Town.
The sick and those in need
Brenda, Reece, John, Cheryl, Ann, Chika, Alessandro, Sonny, Jan, Danielle and Grace.
The Faithful departed
All who have worshipped and served here, those who have died recently, amongst them Grace Onyefulu, and those whose year’s mind falls about this time, amongst them Betty Parker (6th) and Olga Taylor (9th).

Father Georges Iskandar is to be ordained  to the sacred Priesthood by our bishop Jonathan at 5pm on Sunday 28th June at Saint Andrew Holborn, EC4A 3AF. He will celebrate a Solemn Mass of Thanksgiving on Monday 29th June at 7pm here at St Benets. Please pray for him now as he prepares and put theses dates in you diary.

On Sunday 5th July Jonathan our bishop will be here to celebrate mass for us on the Sunday of St Benedict. At that mass Baptism and Confirmation will be offered. If this is something you would like to explore for you or your children, please speak to Father Guy or Father Georges.
