Parish News: All Saints

October 30, 2026 by Guy Willis

The festival of All Saints honours the men and women who now rejoice for ever in heaven – our true home in which we all one day hope to be. Some are known by name to the Church on earth, others or not; in this celebration we venerate them all. These citizens of the heavenly Jerusalem pray for us as we continue in our earthly journey and they show us the way to God.

St Benet’s is self supporting: we receive no regular central church or government funding, so you can donate using card online to support St Benet’s: and every penny really does count! You can also donate by cash or card in person, by texting BENET followed by your donation amount to 70450 to give that amount. Or why not set up a regular standing order with your bank?

The readings for this Sunday can be read here.

Please pray for:
The sick and those in need
Brenda, Reece, John, Ann, Chika, Sonny, Danielle, Grace, Carl, Rex, Mary, Chinye, Rob, Carol and Fr Luke Demetri.
The Faithful departed
All who have worshipped and served here, those who have died recently as well as those whose year’s mind falls about this time, amongst them Arnold Hallewell (1st), Jane Elizabeth Roberts, Desmond Shrewsbury, Priscilla Walden, Frederike Haberstroh (2nd), Jaques Dagnaud (3rd), Caroline Semple, Hilda Mack (4th), Kenneth Edwards and Horace Kingsmill (7th).

At 5pm on Sunday 1st November do come and support our sister church of All Hallows, Gospel Oak NW3 2JP who are keeping their patronal festival. The preacher is the Dean of Chichester and the mass will be followed by a ‘Grand Reception’!

All Souls Day is on Monday 2nd November. There will be a Sung Mass with Choir at 7pm. If you would like a loved one remembered by name, please add their name to the list at the back of church. Today, Sunday 1st November is the deadline for this.

We are invited on Thursday 12th November at 7pm to St Silas NW5 3QP for a Solemn Requiem in the Extraordinary Form.

The Christmas Raffle will be drawn on Sunday 13th December. Tickets now on sale at £2 each from Mary K.

The cover art is The Forerunners of Christ with Saints and Martyrs, part of the ltarpiece by Fra Angelico, 1420s. Held in the National Gallery.
