Parish News: Fourth Sunday and Week of Easter

April 24, 2026 by Guy Willis

Jesus is not only the Good Shepherd who cares for us his sheep, he is also the sheepfold in which he calls us to dwell: a metaphor for everlasting protection. That is, he promises sure support both in this life and in the life to come. It is up to us to hear his voice, and hearing it, follow him.

St Benet’s is self supporting: we receive no regular central church or government funding, so you can donate using card online to support St Benet’s: and every penny really does count! You can also donate by cash or card in person, by texting BENET followed by your donation amount to 70450 to give that amount. Or why not set up a regular standing order with your bank?

The readings for this Sunday can be found here.

Please pray for:
The sick and those in need
Brenda, Reece, John, Cheryl, Ann, Chika, Alessandro, Sonny, Jan, Danielle and Grace.
The Faithful departed
All who have worshipped and served here, those who have died recently, amongst them Grace Onyefulu, and those whose year’s mind falls about this time, amongst them  Lucas Edward Langley (26th), Emmanuel Onyefulu (28th), Olusoji Lemoshe (30th) and George Edington (2nd).

Father Georges Iskandar is to be ordained to the sacred Priesthood by our bishop Jonathan at 5pm on Sunday 28th June at Saint Andrew Holborn, EC4A 3AF. He will celebrate a Solemn Mass of Thanksgiving on Monday 29th June at 7pm here at St Benets. Please pray for him now as he prepares and put theses dates in your diary.

On Sunday 5th July Jonathan our bishop will be here to celebrate mass for us on the Sunday of St Benedict. At that mass Baptism and Confirmation will be offered. If this is something you would like to explore for you or your children, please speak to Father Guy or Father Georges.

Parish Pilgrimage to Walsingham Fri 19th – Sun 21st June. All inc. prices: Adults: £200 ; Children (U-16): £123. A few places have become available; speak to Father Guy or Terry.

All are welcome to the Society of Mary May Devotion
which takes place this coming Saturday 2nd May. After mass at St Silas there is a joyful  procession through the streets to Holy Trinity. After lunch (£10 on the door) a sermon will be preached followed by Vespers & Benediction.

The cover art is Leaving the Sheep Pen by Charles-Émile Jacque, between 1880 and 1889. Held in the Brooklyn Museum, New York.
